I wanted to let you all know that I will be back to posting on Wednesday. We are currently in Canada for a short vacation tiring ourselves out. It’s been a whirlwind of traveling, working, sightseeing, and traveling some more. I now have a great distaste for our car. Elena however has a great love of hotels though she is very glad that we will be home tomorrow.
We have found out a few things about Canada while we were here. Paramedics aren’t paid well, apparently, because they are only paid for the time they spend on a call but not when they are on call. So they’ve been on strike. (An example of government controlled health care?) There is a lot of big beautiful pasture lands with cows, sheep and other animals in the area we are in. They don’t have good Mexican food (or so the natives tell us). They don’t know how to spell fiber (they spell it ‘fibre’). And, there are signs saying “when children are on the highway, drive slow”. We don’t let children on the highway in the US, and we stop when they are. 😉
Last night, I spent a long evening with Stephanie from keeperofthehome.org and her husband Ryan. I had a wonderful time connecting with her and finally meeting face to face (and our husbands had a lot in common too). It was also very nice to have a homemade meal after too many meals out. She made us some delicious enchiladas with a black bean and avocado salad.
